Mayor Joan Feinstein has a long and distinguished career of public service. She has served as Mayor of the Village of Rye Brook since 2008. Prior to being elected Mayor, Joan served as a Trustee (from 2004-2008) and Deputy Mayor (from 2005-2008). She was a member of the Village of Rye Brook Zoning Board of Appeals
from 2002-2004, a member of
the Blind Brook-Rye Board of Education from 1993-1999, and President
of the Board of Education for two years. Prior to being on the School Board, Joan served on numerous
committees of the Blind Brook Schools, such as the Strategic Planning Committee
and as Chair of the Playground Committee, and was involved with the PTA where
she served as Treasurer for two years. Joan has been actively involved with UJA
for over fifteen years and has served in many capacities, including chairperson
of the Rye-Rye Brook-Port Chester Women’s Division and a member of the
Westchester Women’s Cabinet.
Joan has resided in Rye Brook for 30 years. She is a corporate attorney and for the last 25 years has been counsel
to the New York City and White Plains law firm of Wertheimer Fredman, LLC. She is a Phi Beta
Kappa graduate of the University of Rochester, a graduate of Hofstra University
School of Law and earned a Master’s Degree in Taxation from New York
University School of Law. Joan is
married to Paul, a financial executive. They are the parents of a 29-year old
son, Ross, a graduate of Blind Brook High School, who currently resides in
Washington, D.C.
